TRAINING
THOMAS J. JEDIC

Celebrating 40 years of rail safety education

In this fast-paced world, things come and go, and success is often measured by longevity. In New Jersey, a group of individuals has spent 40 years maintaining a serious effort to train law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs and anyone in the public sector who wants to learn.
New Jersey Operation Lifesaver is our very own in-state effort to address trespassing, driver education, grade crossing issues and everything pertaining to rail safety. The organization is fully staffed with volunteers drawn from a wide variety of citizens. Engineers, law enforcement officers, teachers, researchers – the diversity of NJOL’ s volunteers accurately reflects our state.
As we celebrate 40 years, there is only one thing that will make this milestone better: Use us! We’ re asking your department to use us in training your officers to be safe on the railroad. Use us to help
with a community event, NNO, traffic safety event or presentation, juvenile youth academy and much more. NJOL offers free programs to fit any need that your department may have. With a large catalog of topics, we can help supplement any event or in-house training session. We have worked with many NJ departments to address school bus safety at grade crossings. We’ ve attended school assemblies to point out the dangers of trespassing on railroad tracks, and so much more.
Our goal has always been to reduce trespassing and grade crossing incidents. Working in conjunction with your police agency is something we look forward to doing. We have access to pamphlets, materials and online video content that can reach your community efficiently.
So when working up plans for your upcoming school year or community calendar, please reach out to us. We will make every effort to work together to make your community safer and your department’ s community efforts better. d
