Polack contributes fond farewell Middlesex/Somerset County Conference Chair retires with a donation, not a whimper Every donation that a Local or County Conference makes to the NJ State PBA Survivor & Welfare Fund is an applause-gener- ating, thundering experience. But this one moved members to even greater emotion. Well, at least one member. At the state meeting on Dec. 5., Middlesex County Prosecu- tors Office Local 214 State Delegate Kelly Polack, the Middlesex/ Somerset County Conference Chair and a State PBA Executive Board member, offered a $13,000 donation to Survivor & Welfare with funds the conference raised from a beefsteak during the fall. As she led members of the county conference to the podium to present the check, Polack concluded her groundbreaking 25- year career in law enforcement and service to the PBA. “I’m going to be self-indulgent and use this as my opportu- nity,” Polack told members before presenting the donation. “I said before when I got here that I’ve held my own with the fellas for 10 years. So I’m not going to apologize for whatever emotion comes out right now. It’s been a wonderful run. It has been a pleasure and a privilege being a part of this organization and being delegate.” Polack had always been one of those State Delegates who came to every event, served on a multitude of committees and served the union faithfully. Her efforts were recognized by NJ 66 NEW JERSEY COPS ■ JANUARY 2018 State PBA President Pat Colligan when he named her coun- ty conference chair in 2014 after becoming State President. In 2016, Polack was added to the PBA Executive Board. “I got to take over as chair in our county conference and that has been nothing but wonderful,” added Polack, who worked at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office for 25 years, 19 as a detective. “And on that note, to all the new delegates and newer delegates in the room, I just want to use this time to encourage you because I’m blessed to have been a part of this.” d
