a voice through photography
My name is Michael Nixt, I am a photographer in the heartland of America. Throughout my life, I have had many interests, mostly including a deep love for the arts. I have always had a fascination with creating something. Whether it was pottery in art class, painting in my free time, or even singing karaoke at a local bar, I always wanted to put a piece of myself out there for the world. It wasn't until about 7 years ago that I saw photography for the creative outlet it was. I had mostly overlooked this because honestly, my father is a photographer. It took me 20 years to realize that all these pictures he has taken were these wonderful doorways to my childhood. I would spend hours upon hours looking through hundreds of photos. I felt a connection to family I had been too young to know through these photos. I gained a deeper connection with my siblings seeing how they would dress when they were younger. Looking through my father's pictures was my sanctuary growing up.
With this issue, and all issues that follow, I would like to show you my perception of the world around me. I want you to meet, or even reaccquaint yourself with the people who have come through my life. I would like you to see the places, in my corner of the world, through my eyes. I want you to meet hard-working individuals struggling to achieve their dreams. And when you do, I hope you realize one important thing--
The World is a Beautiful Place
Each issue of Nixt Art Magazine will feature either one person, place, group, or event. I want to take a long look into each issue and really see each facet, and how it makes a whole. I wish to give those interested in modelling a moment to shine, and be noticed. I want to give musicians a new way to connect with their audience. I also want to give some of the most interesting people I know, a chance to be seen.
