A Love Letter from God
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw
in you.” ~ SONG OF SONGS 4:7
H
ave you ever received a special letter? Maybe it was a card
for your birthday, or a note from a friend far away, or maybe
someone wanted to tell you they love you, just because. Song
of Songs is a book of the Bible that is kind of like a love letter. In
Song of Songs, the writer tells the woman everything he loves
about her, from head to toe, even her teeth!
Letters are fun because it feels wonderful to know that
somebody loves you, knows your name, and has written a
message just for you. Well guess what? The whole Bible is a
letter, too! It is a message of love from God to you!
God’s Word is also full of stories about women and girls
who God loved. It’s full of stories about people who messed
up and were mean and foolish. Yet, God loved them anyway.
He spoke to them, saved them from trouble, and blessed
them with amazing lives. Often someone whose story starts
out messy with sin, ends up kind and courageous, saved by
God’s love.
God made you just as he made Adam and Eve in the very
beginning and called them “very good” (Genesis 1:31). God
often declares that the people he made and loves are
good and beautiful. He says all the things he loves about
them, from head to toe. He means you, too. You are
altogether beautiful, my darling. You are loved, adored,
and treasured more than any gold.
As you read God’s Word, remember that it is a special
letter written by God to you because he loves you.
PRAYER: Dear God, thank you for loving me and calling
me beautiful. Help me to be kind and courageous because
I know you love me.
