However , the Programa Aprendiz ( English : Apprentice Program ) was expanded from three hundred to three thousand students , promoting classical and popular music classes for students in the municipal public-school system . In 2014 , ten new schools in the municipal system were integrated into the program , which received a structured headquarters through a partnership with the State of Rio de Janeiro Official Press . The groups of the Program ’ s Orchestral Nucleus , which includes the Orchestras : Symphonic , Wind , Guerra-Peixe ( named after an important Brazilian conductor ) and Children ’ s Interculturality , in addition to a set of chamber music , have performed in the local cultural scene on several occasions and always with excellent public acceptance . In addition to these , the Municipal Ballet Company , valued and recovered , now has its own headquarters , after two decades of existence . Also , in 2014 , the Center of Unified Arts and Sports ( CEU Ismael Silva ), an important sports and cultural complex , was built in Jurujuba . With an average monthly audience of five thousand people , the space offers several workshops and artistic and sports activities and is the only one in the country to offer a free preparatory course for college admittance .
One of the most important advances in the area was the release of the Niterói ’ s Incentiveto-Culture Law in 2017 , which allows the execution of many cultural projects through tax waivers . The Niterói Art Foundation also released two more calls for cultural promotion : The first one , to Promotion to the Arts and the latter , to create Pontos de Cultura ( projects financed and supported by the Brazilian government that aim to carry out actions of socio-cultural impact ) and Pontões de Cultura ( projects for the management and support of Pontos de Cultura in a region ) with exclusive funding from the City Hall .
In partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the Cinema National Agency ( Ancine ), the City Hall began in 2019 a series of measures to transform Niterói into a reference in supporting audiovisual production . The initiatives compose the Niterói Cidade do Audiovisual ( English : Niteroi Audiovisual City ) program , which aims to transform the city in a production scenario and so strengthen tourism and commerce in Niteroi . Betting on the audiovisual sector , in addition to the cultural profile , means a possibility of economic diversification in the city .
