The door
to reality
By Shazia Hussain
Shazia Hussain did her bayah with Hazrat Shaykh Tauqeer in
October 2010. A few weeks later her family was blessed with
the opportunity to host Hazrat during his UK visits. From that
moment, her whole focus in life changed and her journey on the
path of seeking closeness to Allah Ta’ala began. She had found her
spiritual parents. The UK visits have grown so much since then,
but amidst all the hustle and bustle of talks and travel, one thing has
become apparent to her. She says,
“My house truly feels like home now, when my
teachers visit and bring their warmth and radiance.”
T
he majlis (gathering) is over and we start to make our way out.
A sister is searching for a ride home. I offer her a ride and we
head towards her place. As I’m driving, she begins asking about
what it means to take a Shaykh. She throws her questions at me, one
after another. It’s clear she is new to all of this. ‘I don’t understand why
people need to take a Shaykh. Why do they become so attached to him?
They simply do whatever he asks them to? How will bayah get me close
to Allah when I’m only doing what the Shaykh is instructing me to
do? If I really loved Allah wouldn’t I do it for Him, without being
asked to?’
How can I explain to her that she has misunderstood? She seems so
confused. There must be a way I can convince her of the importance
of bayah?
