On January 30th, 1933 the Holocaust began, because this is when Adolf Hitler became Chancellor. Many Jews were taken away by the German Nazis to be slaughtered. Some Jews fled, but unfortunatley the majority did not. The Jews were worthless to the German Nazis and worthless to the German citizens. Each Jew was identified by a number that was burned into their skin. These Jews were all stripped of their pride. They were tortured until they had nothing left. Families were separated, even 1.5 million infants and children were killed. A shocking 6 million Jews were killed in total. These Jews were not killed in casualties of fighting, they were victims of Germany's "Final Solution." Hitler's idea of a solution was not successful in the way he had hoped for Germany, but it had killed many innocent people.
Today , many Jewish families visit the Holocaust Museum in rememberence of their loved ones . This cruelty is a time remembered by everyone. Overtime the Jews repopulated. All over the world today, there are synagogues and Jewish homes. You can even visit http://www.ushmm.org to further support the Jews in their endless recovery. Even today, some folks that were in the Holocaust still live to tell there story to others. No one could ever really understand the pain that these people went through, it is uncomparable. Although, one thing that was common between many Holocaust survivors is that they never gave up hope. Hope is something that would keep them going, even when there was nothing left for these people to hold on to.
