Two hours into the journey south the coach
encountered snowstorms, which gradually iced up
the top set of windscreen wipers into blocks of
frozen water that rubbed back and forth across the
windows.
The snow eased after 2¾ hours and the bus
pulled off into a rest area for toilet stops, snowball
fights, snowman construction and a quick puff by
a couple of the adults! About half the group stayed
on the bus where it was warm and dry!
After a 20-minute break, in which the driver
updated his travel log, all headed south again.
Further down the highway three upended
cars that had spun off the southbound lane in the
snow were seen as well as a yellow school bus
that had almost missed its off-ramp and had
parked itself across the freeway in front of the tour
coach.
As the group climbed over the rim of the
Salt Lake Valley the weather and the landscape
changed as the bus headed for the Arizona border.
