A number of the group had deliberately
stayed up most of the previous night, knowing
that a long bus journey was to be undertaken, and
that they would be able to sleep through its six
hours.
In some respects this was unfortunate in that
many of the group did not get to see the
countryside they travelled through as they dozed
behind drawn curtains in the bus.
The conditions inside the bus were warm
and comfortable with reasonable leg room,
television and radio for those few awake.
The highway south was smooth with no
steep hills and the driver was able to maintain a
constant speed on the dual-carriage road.
