A visit to a McDonalds fast food outlet in the terminal was met with disbelief that the burgers were almost twice the price and half the size of the New Zealand equivalent! Marrin took his meal back for a replacement as it was not prepared properly! During the short free bus ride between the international and the domestic terminals Tutereinga saw his first police officer - “Man, this is scary! The cops have guns!”. Several of the boys had the idea that every tall, shaved-head negro they saw had to be a basketball star! The traffic going th rough the access roads at the airport was closely scrutinized as to vehicle model, stereo sounds and occupants.
