Page 30 - Ngaruawahia High School Kapa Haka USA Tour 1998 Rangiherehere trying to avoid getting her photograph taken early in the 10-hour flight to Los Angeles. After the meals and drinks had been tidied away, some of the team played musical chairs as they moved around to socialise with different friends. Rangiherehere, to her embarrassment, found that the headphones worked better when she plugged them in! Lots of photographs were taken during the first 2 hours by many, but few turned out. The plane speed built up to 1,034 kph as we climbed to a height of 11 kilometers. The air temperature outside was, we were shown, minus 34 degrees Centigrade. This information, and our position over the Pacific Ocean, was constantly updated on the TV screen overhead. This information ceased when the movies began to be screened. After the meal we were asked to pull down the window shades. Casey Mia Hawkins, who celebrated her 15th birthday on this flight (and again in Salt Lake City), strikes up a friendship with a young American returning home.
