A number of the travellers browsed the duty
free stores, some purchasing items for family (not
willing to wait to do the same on the way home).
In some cases prices were not an issue as
the students had the opportunity to just spend
before they left New Zealand.
At 8:15pm there was the parting of the
ways and the party headed off through the doors
to the departure complex where there were even
more shops and shopping opportunities.
Families were able to wave their last waves
from the observation windows above the
international departure hall. Members of the
group felt as though they were in another world,
being watched by distant faces at upper windows.
Thirty minutes was spent in sitting, talking,
eating and window-shopping while waiting for
the boarding call.
There were a few nervous people as the the
flight call approached.
