No breakfast this morning! The shuttle bus
left the hotel at 6:15am whether the group was on
or not. This gave the opportunity to get in early
with Flexipasses before the major crowds arrived.
Those who missed the 6:15 start had to wait
until the shuttle did its second round at 7:15am.
The early birds headed to the Indiana Jones
Ride for an early morning drenching before
scattering to explore the theme park on their own.
Isaac and Leon had completed all that they
wished to do at Disneyland by 9:00am and
headed back to the hotel to skateboard, swim and
sleep. Jesse Royal stayed at the hotel due to not
feeling very well.
The early group got several rides out of the
way before the gates opened to the general
public.
The Indiana Jones Ride was an eye-full
with several effects direct from the film Temple
of Doom - such as darts whistling past riders
heads (jets of air) and the giant ball rolling
towards the cars.
The weather deteriorated and by about 1:30
the park was canceling some of the outdoor
attractions because of safety concerns.
Marrin Haggie was extremely vocal during
his Space Mountain ride and also drove the
Indiana Jones car that carried a few staff
members.
Some of the group tried to go to as many
attractions as they could in the time at the park
while others were only interested in the ‘high
adrenaline’ rides and then became bored.
While waiting for the 3:00pm shuttle to
take the group back to the Buena Park Hotel,
Tutereinga entertained the crowds by
leapfrogging over the one metre high parking
cones until he caught the crutch of his track pants
on one and became stranded upside-down! Lalita
Hari paid him $1 for the laugh while Sandy
MacDonald gave him 5 cents!
Back at the hotel many went swimming,
dipping in the spa pool, weight training or
sleeping.
Tea was at a Chinese smorgasbord
restaurant on the corner of the block across from
the hotel. All enjoyed the ability to pile up their
plates with their preferred foods and return for
more (and more). The ice cream machine was
kept very busy.
The rest of the evening was spent settling in
with television, guitars, etc. Pokaia, Te Whainoa
and Tutereinga planned a midnight birthday
celebration for Corrie (with the approval of the
staff).
