Tuesday 31st March 1998
Farewells
On the Tuesday before departure, at 2:30 in
the afternoon the tour group performed to the
school and members of their whanau. They went
through the programme that would be performed
at four different venues in the States.
Poppy Ranga was compere for the
performance and gave an overview of the tour
and its participants. The adults who were to
accompany the group were also introduced to the
audience.
In the audience was Jo Santamaria of The

House of Travel who were the travel agents for the
flights and accommodation in Los Angeles.
The Salt Lake City and Boulder City billeting
was being organised by friends of Richard
Crawford living in those cities.
The Page, Arizona leg of the trip was
changed when those overseas responsible for its
organisation failed to make arrangements for it.
This caused great dismay at the time but proved to
be a dark cloud with a silver lining as later
alternative arrangements were confirmed.
