LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Friends ,
Established in 1983 to provide a mechanism for nurses to support the work of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association ( PSNA ), the foundation has provided scholarships to deserving students in nursing programs across the state . I invite you to join our endeavors so that nurses and our future nurses are well-prepared to practice , become leaders in the profession , promote health , and transform healthcare for the benefit of all .
We are proud to have assisted over 150 students in nursing programs with their education . These nurses have gone on to be leaders in the profession , make a difference in the lives of their patients , inspire students , and lead organizations . This past year , we continued this legacy by awarding $ 28,000 in scholarships to 18 deserving individuals .
To increase our capacity to award scholarships , our Board of Trustees engaged in a year-long fundraising effort to support the 2nd Annual Black & Gold Gala for members , friends , and supporters . This event featured Shannon Miller , the most decorated Olympic gymnast in American history . Retired from competition , Shannon has moved from Olympic athlete to advocate for the health and wellness of women and children .

In conclusion , we are pleased to announce NFP ’ s accreditation under PANO ’ s Standards for Excellence program , in which we were examined by the PANO staff , a panel of peer reviews , and the PANO ’ s volunteer Standards Committee to demonstrate compliance with 67 standards outlined in the Standards for Excellence : An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector . The Seal of Excellence is a symbol of success we are proud to wear with confidence .
