NFC OFFERS LIVE VIRTUAL CLASSES WHERE STUDENTS AND PROFESSORS INTERACT IN REAL TIME
For many , an in-person classroom experience
with live interaction and discussion is a highlight of the learning experience . North Florida College ’ s live remote synchronous courses allow just that - the convenience of online learning with the structure of a live , interactive classroom .
“ While asynchronous online learning [ where students log in at different times ] has been a popular modality for NFC students for years , synchronous remote live learning mirrors the typical in-class experience and facilitates a more engaging online learning environment ,” said Jennifer Page , Dean of Academic Affairs at NFC . “ It provides opportunities for instructors and classmates to connect in a way that deepens learning and allows for immediate , real time feedback .”
Students can log in from their homes , offices , cell phones or anywhere they have internet access . The live remote courses give students the ability to access lecture slides , respond to questions and engage with their classmates live in real time even though they are not physically in the instructor ’ s classroom .
“ I enjoy the remote mix course format ,” said NFC student Tatiana Fadell . " I like being able to ask questions in real time and see the teacher explain certain things ."
This term , NFC is offering live remote courses in history and math with plans to expand options for students this summer and fall . “ We are excited about expanding these opportunities to other courses , allowing more options for our students to choose the learning experience that best fits their busy schedules and learning styles ,” said Page .
