WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP
Leadership, a common word used in our society. What is the definition of leadership? Leadership defines the ways in which a leader acts. Then the question becomes what makes a person a leader? I
believe that a leader is an individual who wants to make a positive change in the world. I find it important to note that all individuals have the skills and abilities to become leaders if they so desire. To be
a good leader; an individual needs to find something in their environment that they want to change
and make that change happen. The occurring change does not have to affect hundreds of people for
it to be successful. A leader can inspire others to do better, to go out and evolve. Once that happens,
it causes a chain reaction.
When I look around my community, there is a greater presence of male youth. Where are the girls?
Why are they less visible? Leadership classes in high schools target students who want to help make
a change. If you take a leadership class in this community, you will notice that the class is filled with
ambitious young women. It seems clear that the female population wants to help make a difference.
