hen I started with the circus, my
grandmother told me a story, how my
great-grandfather used to love the circus
and always wanted to take my father and
aunt to see it. But my grandmother was
strongly against it because in her opinion,
the circus was entertainment for lower
class people. Even today when you say
‘circus’ in Estonia people would think of
an image with small and filthy tents. They
still remember the traditional Russian circus where a clown with a red nose makes
poor jokes.
Today, after many years of hard work
done by a few enthusiastic people, the
image of the circus is starting to change.
