Venues to switch up your nights out . By Shiquille Phillips

The Rossi Bar

Sick of just attending the same old venues and scenery when looking to go for a night out ? You ’ re in luck . This guide will help you broaden your perspective on where to have fun , and you ’ ll hopefully find your self going to coll spots more often instead of the cheese room in Pryzm , again .

Our first stop is to the Rossi Bar . With only a five-minute walk from the Brighton station , The Rossi Bar is a cocktail bar for starters which gives a good sense of versatility in what you can do there and enjoy as if you ’ re not a big gig person the cocktails and drink selections complimented with the stunning aesthetic of the bar will set a good tone for a good night .
On the contrary , it is also a venue for small grass root bands in town to come and cut their teeth on the circuit allowing for many people to jam and mingle with like-minded people . One feature that really sparks the young students is the fact that it ’ s free to hire a show at the establishment as well as free to attendand enjoythe show . This gives people the fun of going and just watching your friends ’ gigs or local bands you enjoy without the worry of that ticket price .
If you keep an eye on their socials (@ therossibar ) they also have other creative events like art exhibitions , themed nights and more , making it more than just a music venue but a way to showcase art and find like-minded people .
Next , we head to North Street to the enthusiastic Folklore Rooms who host music of all genres for fully seated or fully standing shows but specialise in all things indie folk , alt-folk , alt-country , soul , singer-songwriter and all the bits in between . What attracts people to the venue is it is more of a relaxed night out with a small Quadrant Bar right below . If you get firsty .
The venue itself is separatefrom the bar below really allowing it to differ from the other venues as it really does cater more to the music while still having a great atmosphere .
But don ’ t worry they are still fully capable of pulling off absolute parties at their standing shows and madness during the great escape festival .
Folklore also runs the monthly showcase now as their flagship night . The third Tuesday of every month , you can come to Folklore to see three incredible artists , free of charge . But it ’ s recommended to arrive before 7.30PM when doors open so you can beat the queue , as they hit capacity every month ! The social for Folklore if you would like to go check them out (@ thefolklorerooms ).
If Both Rossi Bar and Folklore did not seem like your vibe , then a noticeably short walk down towards the South Lanes in Brighton centre where you ’ ll stumble upon the venue The Pipeline (@ thepipelinebrighton ). This tucked away gem has an upstairs area that hosts intimate gigs with up-and-coming artists on Thursdays – Saturdays , with tickets for some events being available on the door . It ’ s a small venue but has a nice , relaxed vibe and friendly staff as well as some outdoor space with seating at the front to enjoy as the weather warms up . If you ’ re looking to get away from the bustle without leaving the centre of town , the Pipeline is a solid choice .
