The Queery
The Queery is a combined vegan cafe and radical queer bookshop that ’ s tucked away closer to Kemptown . Alongside the large variety of radical literature in the bookshop , the cafe also has a showcase of beautiful queer art including embroidered pieces and sketches . But what ’ s particularly unique about this place is that it ’ s a co-op , meaning it ’ s owned by its members and is also run
by friendly and chatty volunteers , and there is also a pay-asyou-feel system . The cafe and bookshop strive for inclusivity and is seen as a safe LGBTQ + community space , as well as holding strong anti-capitalist values , which are the foundation for how they are run with the cafe itself actively pushing back against social norms .
