Hello MCLPs and MALP Members,
The MCLP Committee is preparing for the next Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional exam, scheduled for March 6, 2026. Registrations are coming in steadily. If the exam is on your radar, we encourage you to register soon, as seating is limited.
The exam will undergo substantial revisions in the coming month. Candidates who have taken the exam previously should expect a refreshed format, including more openended questions and definition-based responses. As always, all exam content is drawn directly from the MCLP Study Guide, which can be ordered at mlp-mclp. org / How-To-Get- Certified. Now is a good time to set a realistic study schedule and stick with it.
MCLP COMMITTEE
Katie Merrifield, MCLP Chairperson Merrifield Garden Wayland, MA
Mike Landry, MCLP Riverside Services, Inc. Southborough, MA
Matt McCoy, MCLP Harrison McPhee Inc. Millis, MA
Laurie Sullivan, MCLP D Schumacher, Inc. W. Bridgewater, MA
Johnny Kwasek, MCLP Past Chair John Anthony’ s Landscaping LLC Roslindale, MA
For currently certified MCLPs, the recertification process is underway. All required credits should have been earned by December 31 and can now be submitted through the website. Please note that the submission form is set up as an“ event.” While we are unable to change the wording of the“ Register” button, that is the correct place to click to begin your submission.
The MALP office is reviewing recertification forms as they are received. If additional information, payment, or credits are needed for 2025, you can expect to hear from Carrie with next steps. As part of our standard process, every 20th submission is fully audited, so some members may be contacted to provide documentation supporting reported credits.
Looking ahead to 2026, the MCLP Committee will focus on identifying and promoting high-quality training opportunities for MCLPs. Safety training, in particular, can be difficult to access, and we are actively exploring ways to address this gap. If you have concerns or know of safety training resources that may benefit others, please contact the MALP office.
Best wishes for a safe and productive winter.
