SMART BUSINESS . POWERFUL CONNECTIONS .
“ What a great event !” “ I learned so much .” “ Wonderful to have everyone together .” “ Love the new format .”
These comments were echoed by many MLP members who attended Fall Field Day . After a season of weather extremes , September 27 featured a bright blue sky with plenty of sunshine , as more than 400 green industry professionals gathered at the German Club in Walpole , MA . The new location and afternoon schedule , including a cookout , were a big hit .
Members took advantage of the beautiful day to demo trend-setting equipment , check out the newest plant introductions , and learn more about modern technology for the green industry .
Educational sessions were well-attended , and the speakers got great reviews . The outside program offered instruction on pruning conifers , proper tree planting , and chipper safety . Classroom sessions included the benefits of using brine in snow and ice management , selling in a sluggish market , and an update on pests and diseases seen this year at UMass ’ diagnostic lab .
Networking was the order of the day as tree and landscape pros met with vendors , made new connections with colleagues , and enjoyed live music at the German Club ’ s Biergarten .
