When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations.
At St John’s, we are always looking for ways to teach essential information, such as times tables facts, in a fun,
engaging way for pupils and we are pleased to introduce to you a new resource which we have purchased that does just this.
It is also something that parents can get involved with at home should you choose to.
Times Tables Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables! Every child in Key Stage 2 (Y3-6) will be given their own personal log on and will be introduced to the website, including how to access it from home, during their lessons in school. After this, they will be free to log on to the website as often as they like at home, to complete games and challenges. Children will also be given weekly access to the website within school time. The website can be found at https://ttrockstars.com .
You can also choose to download the TTrockstars APP from the App Store/ Google PlayStore for free so that children can access the activities on mobile devices.
On the website there are a variety of activities for pupils to opt to play, some single-player games and some multi-player games, where children can play against their friends or other children from around the world. Pupils collect coins as they go along which they can spend to personalise their ‘Rock Star Alias’.
We are very hopeful that pupils will enjoy TTRockstars and that their time spent having fun will also positively impact on their work in lessons here in school.
