Staffing

At the end of this term several staff will be leaving St. John’s.

Deputy Headteacher Charlene Marston and her family are relocating to Devon this August and she will be taking up another post in that county. Charlene joined St. John’s from Chase Terrace Primary in 2004 and has consistently proved herself to be an extremely important member of the team. We wish her well in her new adventure.

In the restructuring of our Senior Leadership Team at St. John’s the post of part time Deputy Headteacher was made redundant. Sarah Arrowsmith, who held this role, has now decided to take a break in her career to devote more time to her family, given her recent news that she is expecting her second child at the end of December. Sarah joined St. John’s in2006 and has given 12 years of valuable service in a wide range of roles. We thank her for her many contributions.

Olivia Mitchell will be taking up another teaching post in Lichfield to be nearer her home. Olivia joined St. John’s in 2002 and has been a successful class teacher in a number of year groups. We are sure she will enjoy her time at her new school.

Lucy Thornton who has completed her Newly Qualified Year with us has now completed her contract and will be leaving to join a school in Willenhall. We wish her well at her new school.

Personal Development Award Projects

This term’s PDA project theme proved to be very well supported. The selected theme of “Save Our Planet” clearly inspired the children to do something practical and useful.

Charlotte, Eva, Aimee and Freya Carried out a special sponsored litter pick around the Village to raise money for WWF and National Trust.

Alfie Stokes and Alfie Hughes project of producing an eco brick was amazing!. You can watch all about their project by clicking on the image (bottom right) for info.

The educational world is beginning to place lots more emphasis on pupils contributions to society and their understanding of the world around them. Ways to influence the way we live in a positive manner and working together is now rightly being recognised as very important part of a child’s education, alongside academic progress.

Our children continue to surprise us with their range of talents when they work together in these collaborative projects and we hope to provide more opportunities for them next year to grow and develop in this way.
