Maintaining the safety of children when online is a major priority for schools given the ever increasing amount of time that is spent communicating through social media. Here at St. John’s we have a history of initiatives aimed at improving our pupils and parents understanding of the issue and alerting them to the potential dangers that it holds. As Tuesday February 7th is nominated National Safer Internet Day our staff will be delivering some special age related activities about safe use of the internet on that day. We will also be taking that opportunity to ask pupils to sign an acceptable user agreement. There are 2 separate agreements one for our younger pupils and one for pupils in Key Stage 2. Staff will take time to explain what the document means and give appropriate support to make sure the children understand the agreement before signing them.

Copies of this agreement along with other useful tips and information are available on the website www.stjohns-eagle.com under the E-Safety tab acceptable user agreement key stage 1 version and key stage 2 version

I am also pleased to inform you that our local Community Police officer, Scott Moyse is coming into school on Monday 13th February to deliver some Staffordshire Police Force material to parents. The meeting is scheduled to start at 6pm and should not last longer than an hour. If parents would like to attend they can reserve seats by contacting the office.

Scott will also be delivering material about safe internet use to our Year 6 pupils on Friday 10th February.
