Activity Week

When most adults think about exercise,

they imagine working out in the gym, running on a treadmill, or lifting weights.

But for children, exercise generally means playing and being physically active. Our pupils exercise when they have PE at school, during playtimes, at dance classes, swimming clubs or football practice, while riding bikes, or when playing tag. We all know however that in general children are exercising less now than they have historically. For that reason we will be delivering a special activity week to encourage our pupils to enjoy being active.

Full details about what your child will be doing are included in the information booklet on our website. There are also some useful videos and more about what and why we are trying to achieve.

St. John’s is totally committed to getting pupils fit and active and for this reason we are funding the various short visits to Cannock Chase and Chasewater next week without asking for parental contributions.

I would recommend to anyone who hasn’t do so already, to start following us on twitter or facebook as there will be lots of interesting posts next week.

We hope the week will be successful and the children will be encouraged to spend less time with their tablets, devices and watching television and enjoy the benefits of getting active.

Uniform

Parents who are looking to order items of school uniform with the St. John’s logo for September will be able to submit order forms from next week. We like to give parents as early as possible time to order as this is obviously an extremely busy time for suppliers. We would hope that all orders received by Friday June 23rd will guarantee delivery by the end of term in readiness for the new school year.

Unfortunately, there is a small increase in price on some items simply to meet increased supplier costs. St. John’s offers this service to parents to keep the price of logo items as low as possible. Uniform from the Academy is available at prices only slightly above the cost of the uniform to ourselves. This is typically around 50 pence per item. The sales are not seen as a way of raising income and we hope to help parents in this way.

Order forms are available on our website from next week and our preferred way of receiving orders is via e-mail to office@stjohnsprimary.academy with the word uniform in the subject box and payment made through Agora. Alternatively forms can be printed and handed in to the office with the correct remittance.
