staffing
At the end of this half term, Mrs McMahon will start her maternity leave. To replace her teaching duties in Year 3, we will welcome back Mrs Tolley who will work with the class for 2 days per week. Mrs Tolley is an experienced Year 3 teacher at our academy and we know she will work well with Mrs Taylor to provide a successful last half term for the pupils in that class.
Mrs McMahon’s commitment in Nursery will be covered by Mrs Ball until the end of the school year. As in Year 3, we are pleased to be able to rely upon staff who know the children and are familiar with our approaches to working with children.
In Little Eagles, we welcome back both Kayley Dayman and Alison Haycock from their recent maternity leave over the next few weeks. The addition of these two experienced members of staff will support the excellent work being done in this facility by the existing staff.
SATS
This week our Year 6 children will be taking part in the SATs National Testing Programme for all 11 year old pupils in the country. The children will sit papers to test their understanding in spelling, grammar, reading and mathematics.
These tests can of course be stressful for the children but we hope that we have supported them through the process in a considerate manner. It is unfortunate that pressure of this nature is placed upon the children but we are confident that they will rise to the challenge and display their best ability.
Whatever the outcome, the Year 6 teachers and myself have been extremely pleased with the progress the children have made this year and the attitude they have shown. As a group, they have matured considerably and we have no doubt that come the end of term, they will be prepared for the transition to High School both academically and socially.
