VOLUNTEERS CORNER
May was a busy month for volunteers at the club. In addition to the usual suspects, Les Bennett has completed the refurbishment of the area previously occupied by the poker machines. He has also mounted the TV in this area. Earlier in the month Les had finished painting the metal strips in the dining area and installing the new ceiling panels. Don Ginns took the old panels to the Witta recycling depot and cleaned leaves out of the gutters. Have you noticed the mulching of the garden bed on the southern side of the green? This was the recent work of Bob and Helen Caulley, who often do gardening and tidying up work around the club grounds. However we don’ t see them very often, because they come in at odd times when most of us are not around. This necessary maintenance work complements the great work done by Roy Gesch with his seasonal plantings that make the garden so colourful.
If I have missed anybody, let me know and I will include them next month.
HERE ARE SOME GREAT WAYS OF DEALING WITH THE BURDENS OF LIFE
• Accept that some days you’ re the pigeon, and some days you’ re the statue.
• Always wear stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
• Drive carefully – it’ s not only cars that can be“ recalled” by their maker.
• If you can’ t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
• If you lend someone $ 20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
• Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time because then you won’ t have a leg to stand on.
•( some thoughts from Margaret Ginns).
