AN END OF
AN ERA
MY EXPERIENCE LIVING IN
HONG KONG AND ATTENDING
EDUHK FOR A SEMESTER
By Jessica Ivy Malady-Hall
I once read that Australia is
7,000
times bigger than
.
,
Hong Kong Island At this point in my stay I have seen
more of Hong Kong than I have of my own native
.
country There were many obstacles in my journey to
,
arrive here and there have been many times that I
.
have wanted to return home My expedition to Hong
.
Kong happened almost without my control I applied
,
for a scholarship one day and the following day I was
;
!
,
accepted I would be going to Hong Kong Someone
,
somewhere in an office in Australia decided that I
,
would have this experience and another person
.
,
would not It could have easily not happened and
.
right now I would still be in my hometown in Australia
A few years ago when I was preparing for my tour
,
around the United States I was talking to a family
.
friend about Las Vegas He had visited the gambling
.
,
capital of the country a few years earlier Of course I
.
,
wanted to know what to expect Over dinner he
looked me in the eye and said
.”
prepare you for Vegas
“
,
Jessica nothing will
,
Ever since that conversation
:
those words have echoed inside of my mind Nothing
.
,
will prepare you One can spend hours reading tips
,
and testimonies blogs and restaurant reviews but
ultimately it does not make a difference to the shock
