EDUHK: A
HOME FOR
BUTTERFLIES
Inside student Tsz Kit's
butterfly book and ecology
exploration
by Kaitlyn Bové
Year three student Tsz Kit is
currently putting the finishing
touches on his first book from
the EdUHK Ecology Series.
This week he will be finishing
Butterflies, where he will reveal
his research on the butterflies
on and around our beautiful Tai
Po campus. For the past three
months, Tsz Kit has focused
exclusively on the butterfly
population on campus. It is the
first in his ongoing Ecology
series, with upcoming editions
regarding amphibians, birds,
and skills on ecological
surveying.
Kaitlyn: What inspired you to
write about the butterflies on
campus?
Tsz Kit: When I decided to
write about the butterfly
species on campus I was
working at the Fung Yuen
Butterfly Reserves in Tai Po.
K: What can you tell us about the
butterfly species?
TK: There are a total of 101
species on campus, making it
40% of all butterfly species in
Hong Kong. Two of which are the
largest in the world. And in total
there are 20,000 different
species in the world.
