THE RAMBLINGS OF THE RIDE CO-ORDINATOR G’Day Ladies, Gentlemen and Others, Winter is almost upon us and it is time to find those winter gloves and jacket liners. I was intending to restrict our rides to the coastal strip for the time being, but it did occur to me that some members may wish to demonstrate their hardiness (foolhardiness?) with an expedition into the high country. If so, let me know. We have had a couple of trips to Canberra to view attend particular venues (museums and so forth). I think that we do not utilise our proximity to the National Capital enough. If anyone has a suggestion, speak up. We could even think outside the box and make it a couples weekend, even travelling by CAR and staying overnight in a motel, etc. The search for a replacement for Sea Whispers has continued. The Bowling Club at Merimbula was a success and met with general approval. None of the other venues has proved to be acceptable. On the 30th we are going to try out How We Roll which is in the old Sea Whispers building. I am hoping that it proves to be a success. I hope to have the matter resolved at the AGM on the 3rd of May. In conjunction with the trial of a monthly newsletter and calendar, I am trying to input the rides directly onto the Google calendar on the branch website. This means that I can constantly update the calendar and members can always access up to date information. The problem of members without internet access remains, and I am not sure how easy it will be to produce hard copies and/or email it to members. Let me or Ross Slade know if you strike a problem. There will not be a ride on the weekend of 3/4 May due to the AGM on Saturday and I’m moving house on the Sunday. Upcoming Rides do include: • Wed, 7 May – Mallacoota, • Sun, 18 May – Delegate to Orbost via Bonang Rd, and • Wed, 21 May – Bodalla Cheese Shed. Finally, don’t forget that I am after you opinions as to participation in non-branch activities. If you are not attending the AGM, please let me know if you have an opinion. If you are secure in your sexuality, you CAN ride a: Bike Made for Women! Bruce By Appointment Ride Co-ordinator to the Sapphire Coast Branch of the Ulysses Club 0419 316 612 or [email protected] 4
