very evocative. Though these may not directly transform into a peaceful place free from the hustle-and-buzzle, but come on, this is totally Paris. 2. Walk straight through a food market Among more than 1,200 markets in Paris there are 90 food markets. There are various kinds of them: open-air neighborhood markets, street markets (which are pedestrian walk-ways devoted to markets), covered markets and so on.  You can taste great foods and often enjoy fun entertainment with musicians. But one of the best reasons to go to the market is cultural immersion. One can temporarily be a parisian just by walking around the streets and to go shopping in the markets, because they are not set up for tourists (like a Disney version of market), they are authentic places where people have been shopping for literally hundreds of years, thus they have become the rhythms of the neighborhood. One tip is to arrive at the market as early as possible as most of them will not appear after around 2pm. I just love to know more about this city to which we can go back for the rest of our lives.
