THE PARK DISTRICT PARTNERS WITH NORTHERN SUBURBAN SPECIAL RECREATION ASSOCIATION ( NSSRA ) YEAR- ROUND TO MAKE OUR PROGRAMS AND CAMPS ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES .
In addition to providing support within Glenview Park District programming , NSSRA expands opportunities for children , teens , and adults with disabilities by facilitating recreation programs and services for those who live in 13 northern suburban communities , including Glenview . With nearly 500 recreation , sport , cultural and social offerings throughout the year , they specialize in introducing participants to new experiences , providing opportunities for skill development and leisure time , and , most importantly , creating space for friendships to thrive .
NSSRA was the first Special Recreation Association in the United States , and has been building an environment of belonging through play since 1970 . NSSRA ’ s inclusion support option provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy participation in Park District programs while receiving the individual support they need to succeed . In 2023 , the Park District served 212 individuals with disabilities through NSSRA ’ s services and programs . Additionally , NSSRA

It is truly inspiring to witness participants flourish in our programs over the years , forming lasting friendships and developing self-confidence through their recreational experiences in our parks and facilities .”
