Students of Johnson & Wales University visited USIL for a Peruvian Culinary Experience
For the fifth consecutive year, students of Johnson & Wales University from the Bachelor in Culinary Arts, Pastry and Nutrition, choose Lima, Peru and USIL to learn about Peruvian gastronomy and culture. During four weeks, students experienced a study abroad program composed by hands on culinary, pastry classes and field trips to the main markets, and restaurants. Students visited Cusco and Machu Pichu at the end of the program to learn about the culture of the Inkas and the ancient culinary techniques.
DR. JILL BIDEN VISITED USIL Dr. Jill Biden- US vice president’ s wife- visited the School of Hospitality Management, Tourism and Gastronomy and shared a Peruvian culinary class of ceviche and Peruvian desserts with students from the Bachelor degree in Culinary Arts and restaurant management.
WALTER LABAJOS, GRADUATE IPB STUDENT, PERFORMING HIS BEST IN PERUVIAN EMBASSY IN TOKYO Walter Labajos is a graduate student from the first class of the Bachelor in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management from Institut Paul Bocuse in Lima, Peru. After graduating, Walter became the executive chef of the Peruvian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. Since, Walter has been performing his best in Tokyo sharing Peruvian cuisine and culture to the Japanese community.
2016 Confucian-style commencement ceremony of NKUHT

The 2016 Commencement Ceremony of NKUHT was held on June 23 rd, 2016. The commencement ceremony of the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism adopted the ancient Confucian-Style to show the traditional values of respect for teachers and disciplines. The ceremony commenced with the sounds of gongs and drums. Then, all of the graduates performed the ultimate imperial salute to the portrait of Confucius, the greatest teacher in Chinese culture. Subsequently, the teacher representatives were acknowledged the supreme reverence from the student representatives who kneeled down three times to express grateful appreciation to their teachers.
The university’ s new President, Dr. Lin, addressed congratulations to students and presented graduation certificates to the graduates. All teachers of the colleges, graduates, parents and guests gathered together to celebrate the occasion and the birth of a new generation of hospitality elites in Taiwan. Graduates on graduation gowns appeared excited and cheerful. With big smiles on their faces, they shuttled all around the beautiful campus, receiving blessings and wishes from their teachers, relatives, friends and classmates and taking photographs. The campus was full of joy.
