Getting ready for Bocuse d’ Or at Haaga Helia, Finland
On Mid-January, the Finnish competitor Eero Vottonen with his assistant Miikka Manninen built their training kitchen as pop-up to the Haaga Helia Campus. Haaga Helia was proud to welcome them for one of their last training sessions few days before the finals of the Bocuse d’ Or competition held in Lyon on January 24 th and January 25 th.

The Singapore National Team took part in the Culinary Olympics held in Erfurt( Germany), and won 2 gold medals in October 2016. On November 23 rd, the Hong Kong Vocational Centre arrived in ITE Singapore for a cook-off. ITE College West also received Prime Minister of Bhutan, and the Singapore Junior National Team won overall champion.

On January 30 th and January 31 st 2017, Institut Paul Bocuse( France) welcomed Mister Yuzuru Fukuzawa and 31 students from Hyogo NCC College( Japan). The group was accompanied by Taro Iwakoshi, Alliance Alumni 2011. At the program: 2 evening-classes dedicated to French Haute Cuisine with Chefs Paganini, Oger and Fremont.

On January 24 th and January 25 th 2017, the finals of the Bocuse d’ Or competition took place in Lyon, during SIRHA 2017. Among 24 contestants competing for the famous trophy, Giovanna Grossi( Alliance Alumni 2012) was proud to be the first woman to represent Latin America, and especially her country, Brazil.

Chinese New Year 2017 – Fire Rooster Year
The Chinese New Year 2017 started in January 28 th. Also called Spring Festival, it is the most important annual event for Chinese people, and is celebrated across the world with many festivities. 2017 is the 4717 th year. The Year of the Rooster takes over from the Year of the Monkey. Roosters are said to be the most motivated animal in the Chinese zodiac.
