S1 Modern Studies – Excellent Work !

Written by Mr Moncrieff
In S1 Modern Studies , classes have been looking at what it means to live in a Democracy . Recently , we have been looking at different methods of participation in democratic societies . Classes have worked on informative posters to showcase a number of different participation methods , showing excellent creativity and the ability to select relevant examples and explanations from extended texts . Pupils will have the opportunity to learn from each other ’ s posters , and the information gathered will be used to help pupils construct an answer to a ‘ Describe ’ question – one of our key skills in Modern Studies . Excellent work S1 – well done everyone !
P7 STEM and Maths Challenge
Our future S1s visited the school this month to participate in a Maths and STEM challenge . Pupils were split into groups and attended maths classrooms , completing 20 challenge questions and also worked as a group to create windmills that were tested to lift increasing weights .
All pupils really enjoyed their visit and loved the opportunity to meet new people and begin to make friends from other schools , which helps to make the transition to secondary that little bit easier .
Thank you to all the staff involved in planning and delivering sessions and to Mr Hobson for organising the event .
