UoP5e Progress Drivetrain To aid overall powertrain efficiency and weight (by allowing downsizing of the motor), a bespoke 2-stage transmission will be manufactured by the team. This poses a new challenge, as it is the first time in teams’ history to design such a part. Gears have been designed with the aid of KissSoft leading software, while some unconventional approaches have been implemented to significantly lower the weight. The integration philosophy continues here as well, with motor and transmission mounts as well as mounts for auxiliary parts integrated in the transmission casing. The casing itself is designed as 3 parts for ease of manufacturing and efficient use of materials. Suspension Benchmarking of UoP4e suspension system has been done. A special rig to measure suspension deflection and compliances under load has been manufactured, to allow the team to fine-tune suspension components’ design. Moreover, numerous simulations are being done in order to finalize the suspension geometry until design freeze. At the same time, certain subsystems are being totally redesigned, with surprises coming soon! Greece |uopracingteam.com| fs.uopracing@gmail.com
