Dilan Dalkiran | The Netherlands
Dilan was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She stud-
ied Cultural Anthropology & Development Sociology at the University
of Amsterdam. She did her master’s at King’s College London in In-
ternational Child Studies. Her biggest passion is to advocate for child
rights. Dilan likes to explore new countries and cultures, because it in-
spires her to discover the beauty of our planet and to meet new people.
01 I was born and raised in Amster-
dam, but I am originally Kurdish
from Turkey. Kurds are the largest
ethnic minority group in Turkey.
I’m fluent in Dutch and Turkish.

02 I spent two years in London, one
year doing a master’s and one year
working with children with special
needs.
03 I have visited over 40 countries. I
volunteered at various orphanages
and NGOs and attended various
youth leadership conferences.
04 I have studied in 4 different coun-
tries: the Netherlands, the USA, the
UK and Australia.
05
05 I love spicy fish balls and every Sat-
urday, I go to a fish ball shop in TST
to get them along with a lemon tea
from 7-Eleven.
06 I have a sister, and she lived and
studied for 5 years in Sydney, Aus-
tralia, where she obtained her PhD
degree.

07
07 I hold two passports––Dutch and
Turkish––which is a plus as I can
travel to most countries without a
visa!
08
08 I love dolphins because of their
playfulness. I travelled to Dubai,
UAE, to swim with them!
