She said she didn't ask me a lot about my studies because she knew I was under a lot of pressure from the heavy workload at school. She was afraid her concern would make me even more stressed, but she always paid close attention to my condition. I had never thought that my mom would have such a big reaction. I realized that they didn't look worried in front of me, but it didn’t mean that they weren’t concerned. They just hid their love inside and wanted to stay strong in front of their child. And for them, I would always be their child, in need of their care and attention. At that moment, I started to better understand my parents’ caring and hidden love. They didn't ask me directly about things, but that didn’t mean that they did not care about me. They would like to hide their caring inside in order to let me be independent and avoid giving me stress. Even though the process of learning to be independent was difficult, I was grateful that I gained this ability through hard experience. And because of this ability, I was not afraid of living alone in a foreign country; years later, I decided to go to the USA for exchange to broaden my horizons. Sometimes, we are bored because of parent’s chatter, but we should understand the care and concern behind that. Sometimes, because the backgrounds, cultures and experiences we had are different from our parents, we may have diverse thoughts and even opposite opinions. But we have to believe that they want to give us the best, and we can solve conflicts through communication. Sometimes, they may not use words to describe how they love us. We should know they do everything for us and should understand their hidden love. However, unfortunately, when I was on a plane, I suddenly felt nauseous and started to vomit after breakfast, and I couldn't eat anything else because I would vomit again whenever I ate a little bit. I didn't bring any medicine with me, so I couldn't stop and felt terrible. When I went to the clinic after arriving, the doctor told me that I was very dehydrated and had acute gastroenteritis. Zhuofan is a Year 3 student who studies Psychology. She is a Taurus, so she likes to try many kinds of delicious food! She especially loves desserts! After my mother heard that, she called me several times and asked me to have a good rest. I knew she was worried about me because she gave me a phone call every day, but her voice sounded calm. Later, however, my father told me that my mother cried when she heard about my experience. I was shocked at that time because 9 APRIL 2018
