Welcome Back
Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday with your family and friends. I would like to welcome
all our new children and families to Oakbank. Thank you to all our new P1 children and their parents for a smooth start
to school. The children are all settling in very well. The children have been enjoying having access to the large section
of grass at the front of the school. It has been lovely seeing them enjoying playing on the grass with their friends.
We are currently in the process of working on our website to share information as effectively as we can and to keep you
updated. We would ask that you keep your email information updated with us so that we can send information out
electronically. If your emergency contact details have changed please let us know as soon as possible.
We are all looking forward to a busy term ahead. On the back of the newsletter is a note of important dates throughout
the year for you to add to your diary. Specific information regarding some of the events will be sent out to you nearer
the time.
Should you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact us directly on 01738 477577 or come into
the office and make a suitable appointment with your child’s class teacher or with myself or one of my Depute Head
teachers.
Mrs S Murray (Headteacher)
Uniform
Our children are all looking very smart in their school uniforms. The distinctive Oakbank sweatshirt and school ties help
to clearly identify our children. I would like to ask you to encourage your child to wear a school tie with their shirt if
they are not wearing a polo shirt with the school sweatshirt. The dark charcoal/grey cardigans, tank tops and V-neck
sweaters also look very smart with shirts and ties. I have had throughout the year comments from parents regarding
our uniform and suggesting updating the uniform as we move our new school forward. I will shortly extend an invitation
to any parents who would like to join a small consultative party to look at school uniform this session.
Perth High School
We would like to welcome Mrs Pupillo, the new Headteacher at Perth High School. We have already this session started
to make links with the staff at Perth High School for opportunities this year for our pupils as well as supporting
opportunities for senior pupils to experience work placements at Oakbank. Having this link with Perth High School really
helps to ease transition when pupils move over at the end of Primary 7. We continue to provide access for pupils from
Perth High School for music tuition and have enjoyed seeing some of our previous Primary 7 pupils returning to Oakbank
this week.
Welcome new staff
I would like to welcome new staff to our school this term. Miss Clare Davidson joins us as our new Pupil Support
Teacher, replacing Mrs Margaret Gibson who has moved to work in other schools across Perth & Kinross. Miss Davidson
will be based in Oakbank Monday – Wednesday and will work the rest of the week at Longforgan Primary School. Miss
Erin McPherson joins our nursery team as an Early Childhood Practitioner. Mr Adam Fortune joins us this year as our
probationer teacher having worked in Oakbank last year as a student teacher in P2.
We wish Mrs Gibson and Miss Yorkston one of our probationer teachers last year, the best of luck in their new posts.
