Paisley and her horse round a barrel at a barrel racing event in Russellville , KY .
Aubrey said homeschooling her children is advantageous to their schedule .
“ We have homeschooled the kids since Paisley was in the fifth grade . It fits into our schedule so much easier . It gives us more flexibility . We have approximately the same routine each year and Paisley ’ s most active during the summer . When we are in faraway states , such as Georgia , we take our vacations there .”
“ I started my pre-K events when I was three years old ,” the rodeo princess said . “ Those events are in Salem because that ’ s where we now compete , and it ’ s not very far away . I like the location and the crowd ; that is my favorite part about it .”
Brown continued , “ I would like to become a professional barrel racer and a breakaway roper . In breakaway roping , I have to rope a baby calf .”
Paisley has two younger siblings who are just as excited about rodeo as her .
“ My brother and sister come on the road with me ,” Brown said . “ I think it ’ s great they enjoy rodeo so much . They got started because they watched me do it .”
Her brother , Sage , is eight years old , and he is most interested in riding on sheep and calves . He hopes to ride fullsized bulls when he is older . Her sister , Steely , is three years old and can already ride by herself . She will be able to compete in rodeos once she turns five . The children are in separate rodeo divisions by age group .
“ We have a lot of animals on our farm . That means we also have a lot of chores to do every day . We have a herd dog to stay out in the field right next to the horses ,” Paisley said . “ We have five horses on our property . We always have at least three of them with us on the road . Two of them are older and compete with us in the local rodeos . Our horses are named Jose , Dre , Rusty , Bluejeans and Skip . Jose is twelve ; that is a good age for a rodeo horse . We ’ ve had Jose for two years . He is my favorite .”
