National Level Competition A Two days National Level Competition for Engineering Students was conducted on 10th and 11th of November, 2018, in association with ECell of llT Kharagpur. Both Information Science and Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering students actively participated and presented their technical skill in Android Programming. The two days hackathon created such a new zeal in students that they started coding themselves for different problems. IoT Laboratory The IoT project and research labs are established in the department with an aim to provide cutting edge technologies to our s t u d e n t s. I o T t h e o r y a n d l a b a r e incorporated in the department curriculum and lab programs are framed with extreme care so that they can meet the industry requirements. The final year students are encouraged to carry out their projects in the department and are supported with all the required software and hardware. The research scholars have taken active participation in the department research activities and as a result some of the scholars communicated their paper to Springer, IEEE etc. In this regard the faculty and staff of the department have undergone two day workshop on Internet of Things using Android organized by Varistor Technologies, Banagalore. H and Prof. Uday Bellary Webinar on Cloud Computing A Webinar on Cloud computing was organized for the final year students under Pheonix Association. Students were educated on cloud computing aspects and were exposed to the current practices in cloud computing. Topics included distributed computing models and technologies, Infrastructure-as- a-Service (laaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS}, Software-as-a-Service (Saas}, virtualization, security and privacy issues, performance and systems issues, capacity planning, disaster recovery, Cloud OS, f e d e r a t e d c l o u d s, c h a l l e n g e s i n implementing clouds, data centers, hypervisor CPU and memory management, cloud hosted applications, and other advanced topics in cloud computing.
