Spotlight
This Month’s Spotlight: Newspapers in Education
The
Telegram
&
Gazette,
in
partnership
with
Newspapers
in
Education,
now
offers
free
access
for
teachers
to
their
newspaper
via
the
NIE
eEdition.
The
eEdition
allows
you
to
navigate
an
exact
digital
replica
of
the
printed
newspaper—just
as
you
would
the
newsprint
version.
You
may
flip
through
the
pages
and
skim
headlines;
view
articles,
photos,
and
graphics
with
the
click
of
a
button;
and
even
print
out
individual
stories
and
photos
by
using
the
“clipping”
tool.
Some
of
the
benefits
of
the
eEd ition
include:
text
translation
to
twelve
languages,
an
audio
feature
that
will
read
the
article
aloud,
an
extensive
curriculum
library
for
teachers
that
covers
how
to
use
the
T&G
eEdition
with
classes,
and
more.
We
also
have
access
to
Worcester
Living
and
Business
Matters
eEditons!
In
addition
to
online
access,
the
eEdition
is
available
as
an
app
through
the
App
Store
or
Google
Play,
and
works
beautifully
when
projected.
To
that
end,
the
Library
Media
Center
now
owns
an
iPad
preloaded
with
the
T&G
NIE
app
that
teachers
may
check-‐out
of
the
library
for
short-‐term
use
in
classrooms.
Teachers
may
register
for
FREE
educators’
access
to
the
T&G
eEdition
by
visiting
telegram.com/nie,
then
selecting
“create
new
account”
(**The
T&G
has
requested
that
you
please
register
with
your
wrsd.net
school
email
address).
Students,
if
you
would
like
access,
please
see
Mrs.
Stern
in
the
library
for
log-‐in
information.
For
more
information
about
special
features
and
how
to
use
the
T&G
eEdition,
please
stop
by
the
LMC.
We
hope
you
will
take
advantage
of
this
wonderful
resource!
Did you know?
We
have
a
limited
number
of
copies
of
Chris
Herren’s
book,
Basketball
Junkie,
available
for
check-‐out
in
the
Library
Media
Center,
as
well
as
a
copy
of
Fall
River
Dreams,
the
story
of
the
Durfee
High
School
basketball
team
Chris
Herren
played
on
as
a
teenager
in
Fall
River,
MA.
If
you’d
like
to
know
more
about
Chris’s
journey,
stop
by
the
library
to
check-‐out
a
copy.
Remember!
Long Block Study in the
Library Media Center
Upperclassmen may visit the
library during their long block
study periods. Each student MUST
acquire a pass in the library
either after school the day prior,
or before first period the day of.
Students visiting the library for
long block will have fourth lunch,
and must remain in the library up
until that time. Students who
request a pass and do not report
to the library, or fail to notify the
library staff of their intended
absences prior to the start of
long block, will have their study
privileges
revoked
for
the
subsequent long block study.
March
is
National
Women’s
History
Month!
Who
was
the
first
woman
in
modern
history
to
lead
a
major
Native-‐American
tribe,
the
Cherokee
Nation?
Each
month,
the
library
newsletter
will
feature
a
trivia
question.
Students
who
answer
the
question
correctly
will
be
entered
into
a
raffle
at
the
end
of
the
school
year
for
an
iTunes
or
Amazon
gift
card.
Please
note!
You
must
indicate
where
you
found
the
answer
(book,
database,
website,
etc.),
or
your
answer
will
not
be
considered
complete.
No
Google,
please—too
easy!
Why
not
try
one
of
the
many
fantastic
resources
in
the
LMC?
