Jacquie Hornung-Watson was a three-time volleyball state champion and softball standout at Providence.
She began playing softball when she was 5. Then, five years later, she started playing volleyball.
For the Pioneers, Hornung-Watson finished with 714 kills over her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, when Providence won its first three state titles.
“ I think just because we all had such a close family atmosphere it helped lead us to be really successful,” Hornung-Watson said.“ When it comes to volleyball, winning a state title in any sport that you’ re involved in, or winning a championship, is the biggest goal that you have. I’ m extremely grateful and it was some great memories when it came to winning state.”
In softball, she was a key member of back-to-back regional-title teams( in 2013 and 2014). She was the NTSPY Softball Player of the Year in 2014.
The 2016 PHS graduate continued her volleyball career in college. First at IUPUI( now IU Indy), then at Bellarmine University.
