What is the message you want to convey to the citizens ?
That we are here to serve you . Public health spans such a wide range of community initiatives and activities . We strive to be out and active in the community in any event possible . We want to know the challenges you face so that we can develop programs to support you . The Health Department obviously has to perform some regulatory duties , but we always want to approach those from a frame of mind as a community partner .
What do you hope doesn ’ t happen ?
I am always watching the new strains of flu . Another pandemic or anything approaching that , no more “ Daily Dose of Calm .” It would be more like file my retirement papers and grab my fishing pole .
In all seriousness , we would absolutely answer the call to help our citizens , but I don ’ t thiink any of us are wanting to deal with a new bug to fight .

Health First Indiana is an initiative created by Senate Enrolled Act 4 , legislation passed by the 2023 Indiana General Assembly that transforms public health . The legislation provides funding so counties can determine the health needs of their community and implement evidence-based programs focused on prevention . Health First Indiana establishes a public health infrastructure through a state and local partnership where services are delivered at the county level .
