Downtown Tahlequah is the city ’ s historical district that starts by Northeastern State University and spans down North Muskogee Avenue . The Northeastern State University Event Center is home to the university ’ s men and women ’ s basketball teams The campus ’ s graduation ceremonies and a number of community events are held here . The 86,000-square-foot event center has 69 rooms , including an 8,000-square-foot community center . The spaces can be used for dinners , luncheons , meetings , lectures and other events . The Tahlequah Main Street Association is a member of the National Main Street center and Main Street America network .
