Help is on the Way

This community is filled with those ready to help a neighbor in need . Many nonprofit organizations in the county are prepared to assist people needing shelter , food , protection from violence , or other forms of aid . Local schools partner with social services to make sure their students ’ needs are met , some even sending backpacks of food home with kids who need them . Various area entities serve hot meals throughout the week and give people down of their luck a place to sleep at night .

Alcoholics Anonymous
Several groups in the area meet throughout the week .
Eastside AA meets every day at noon and 8 p . m ., except on Sundays , when they met at 11 a . m . and 7 p . m . Meetings are held at 812 Ward St .
Alcoholics Anonymous Chapter Five meets on Mondays , Wednesdays , and Saturdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p . m . at 116 E . Keetoowah St .
Tahlequah Northside AA meets Mondays and Fridays from 7 p . m . to 8 p . m . at 412 W . Seneca St .
Let ’ s Face It Al-Anon Group meets every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1 p . m . at 1011 S . Muskogee Ave .
Hulbert AA meetings are Thursday at 7 p . m . at Methodist Church on East Fifth and South Birch Street .
CARE Food Pantry
CARE Food Pantry is supported by several churches in the area and provides an emergency food pantry to residents of Cherokee County with proof of identification . The pantry is located on the property of First Presbyterian Church and clients are allowed to visit every 30 days . The pantry is open on Mondays and Wednesday from 10 a . m . to 12:30 p . m . and on Fridays from 10 a . m . to 11 a . m . More information is available by calling : 918-458-5338 .
Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma Inc .
Eligible low-income people and senior citizens dealing with civil legal problems can contact this nonprofit law firm for assistance . The Tahlequah office , located at 224 S . Muskogee

Feed My Sheep

Help In Crisis
Help In Crisis has been offering its services for years , providing safety and assistance to victims of violence , abuse , and sexual assault . It provides support groups , advocacy , and an emergency shelter that approximately 300 women and 300 children go through each year . Tahlequah Men ’ s Shelter
The Tahlequah Men ’ s Shelter has a mission to provide shelter to those without , to feed those who are hungry and offer assistance . Staff at the shelter help men find services they qualify

Zöe Institute
This nonprofit aims to improve individuals ’ quality of life . The organization offers assistance to those in need of temporary relief and finding long-term solutions . Providing education , life skills training , and humanitarian efforts through its many services , the Zöe Institute helps people who need it most . Its executive office is located at 309 S . Tahlequah Day Center
A partnership between the Zöe Institute and the Tahlequah Area Coalition for the Homeless , the Tahlequah Day Center serves individuals who are at risk of , or are experiencing homelessness . It offers public restrooms with showers , food , a dining / learning center , warmth , case managers , and assistance in finding employment .
