Cherokee County and Tahlequah ’ s local law enforcement officials work 24 / 7 to keep the community safe , as crime rates have increased over the past few years . One method of collecting crime data is law enforcement reports .
The Tahlequah Police Department patrols just within the city limits and based on reports , there were 136 burglaries in 2021 and 108 in 2022 . Nine robbery reports were taken in 2021 , and there were 11 in 2022 . There were a total of 7,687 traffic and pedesstrian stops in 2021 and 9,363 in 2022 .
The Cherokee County Sheriff ’ s Office reported 130 burglaries occurred in 2021 and 118 occurred in 2022 . There were 187 drug arrests in 2021 and 171 arrests in 2022 . There were also 240 stolen property and stolen vehicle reports taken in 2021 and 199 reports in 2022 .
