Choosing A School

T here are so many great options for schools in the Tahlequah area that moving here and selecting the best institution for educating your children can be a little daunting . Tahlequah is home to some impressive educational options , from early childhood education centers to a state university .

Post-Secondary Education
NORTHEASTERN STATE UNIVERSITY
The main campus of this university is located here in Tahlequah . Originally the Cherokee Female Seminary , with Seminary Hall being erected in 1889 , it became a state school in March 1909 . The school offers a total of 58 undergraduate majors and over 40 options for graduates to pursue certificates or degrees . NSU also offers different certification programs , such as the pre-dental program run through the Continuing Education program . Although there are campuses in Broken Arrow and Muskogee , the main campus is at 600

INDIAN CAPITAL TECHNOLOGY CENTER
More commonly referred to by its acronym , ICTC , this vocational technical school offers many different programs to help adults – and even high school students who concurrently enroll – achieve many different certification or training programs . The institution offers full-time , part-time , and online programs in fields such as welding , business , and nursing programs . The main campus is at 240 Vo- Tech Drive in Tahlequah .
High Schools
TAHLEQUAH HIGH SCHOOL
Tahlequah High School , located at 591 N . Pendleton , is home to approximately 700 students in a given year . Ranked 47th in the state but first in the OK Metro Area High Schools , the high school is home to a diverse group of students . The class sizes tend to be between 10 and 20 students , which some rare classes being as large as 35 students . The
school offers various athletic opportunities such as football , wrestling , baseball , basketball , cheer , volleyball , softball , soccer and more . In addition , THS features a thriving band program that is frequently among the top programs in the state , as well as top-notch choral , theater and art programs . KEYS HIGH SCHOOL
Keys High School is in Park Hill , just outside of Tahlequah at 26622 S . 520 Road . KHS is a smaller school than THS , with approximately 242 students , but features a 96 % graduation rate , possibly due to the 12-to-1 student-toteacher ratio . KHS features many sports as well as clubs and activities , and boasts a healthy FFA program . HULBERT HIGH SCHOOL
Hulbert High School is approximately a 10-minute drive from Tahlequah and is at 316 Rider Lane in Hulbert . The school is small , with approximately 543 students in PK-12 , with a student-teacher ratio of 16-1 . Hulbert features extracurriculars such as athletics , as well as AP and gifted programs for students . Call

TAHLEQUAH MIDDLE SCHOOL
Tahlequah Middle School is conveniently located near the high school . The majority of the high school students attended the TMS before moving on there . The middle school offers sports and extracurriculars . Call 918-458-4150 .
CHEROKEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
