Cherokee County and Tahlequah ’ s local law enforcement officials work hard 24 / 7 to keep the community safe as more crime rates have increased over the year . A method of collecting crime data is law enforcement reports .
The Tahlequah Police Department patrols just within the city limits and based on reports , there were 125 burglaries that occurred in 2020 and 135 that occurred in 2021 . Eleven robbery reports were taken in 2020 and there were eight in 2021 . There was a total of 6,584 reportable offenses in 2020 and 8,730 in 2021 .
The Cherokee County Sheriff ’ s Office reported 147 burglaries occurred in 2020 and 108 occurred in 2021 . There were 81 drug arrests in 2020 and 144 arrests in 2021 . There were also 106 stolen vehicle reports taken in 2020 and 98 reports in 2021 .
